Superb night out with a visit to our local Mosque in Laygate, South Shields followed by a Curry evening out.
We were warmly received at the Mosque where we learned about the commonalities between the Christian and Muslim faith. Interestingly the charitable and community work the Mosque undertake is extensive and similarly seems to follow the Rotary ethic of “Service before Self”
South Shields has always been a centre of cultural diversity and the Al Azhar mosque in Laygate of South Shields was the UK’s first purpose built place of worship for the vibrant Muslim community, one of the most established in the country.
